Cellphones Affect brains?

A recent study conducted by a Neuroscientist Sarah Loughran a student at Swinburne University's Brain Sciences Institute in Melbourne said that exposure to mobile phone can affect a person's brain waves even when the handset is switched off and the user is asleep.

They conducted an experiment where they exposed 50 people to cellphone radiation for about thirty minutes, then after studying their brain waves Loughran said the results show that there was an increase in brain wave activity in the first part of non-rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, following mobile phone exposure this movement is known as alpha brain wave activity. However according to Loughran any effects and health consequences of the exposure is still unclear.

Another study was conducted by Nora D. Volkow, director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse, according to her people exposed to 50 minutes of cellphone radio frequencies saw an increased brain glucose metabolism in the region closest to the antenna although the study proves that the human brain is sensitive to the effects of RF-EMFs from acute cell phone exposures still there are no solid evidence that the cellphones cause serious brain damage. However precautions are still encourage when using cellphones, after all prevention is always better than cure.
